If you suffer from back pain, then you know it is terribly debilitating, affecting all aspects of your work and personal life. However, you are not alone. Back pain is one of the most common ailments that plague Americans today. The lower back is the area most often affected. There is almost no person who is immune from having some sort of lower back pain at some point in their life. Acute low back pain (also called lumbago) is a common musculoskeletal disorder affecting 80% of people at some point in their lives. That’s four out of every five people! In the United States it is the most common cause of job-related disability, a leading contributor to missed work, and the second most common neurological ailment — only headache is more common. The total costs of low-back pain in the United States—including lost wages and reduced productivity—exceed more than $100 billion per year. Low back pain can happen anywhere below the ribs and above the legs. The lower back is the connection between the upper and lower body, and it bears most of the body’s weight. So it’s pretty easy to hurt your back when you lift, reach, or twist.
Chiropractic care realigns the displaced vertebrae which removes the pressure from the nerves and relaxes the surrounding muscles, thus truly eliminating the cause of the pain, with many patients feeling improvement shortly after their first chiropractic visit. In fact, headaches are so commonplace that many people consider headaches to be a pretty normal condition that doesn’t necessarily need the attention of a healthcare professional. Although headaches are a common problem, many people would argue that the pain that results from them are anything but mundane. Anyone who has experienced an intense headache for a day or even a few hours know that it can feel like trying to navigate the world in a vise. Almost every movement you make and thought you have is excruciating. The pain of a piercing headache, especially if it doesn’t resolve quickly, can also lead to depression, anxiety, sleep problems, and other issues that can color your entire world. Many people are inclined take some sort of pain killer and hope it goes away. What they don’t understand is that, while pain killers may take care of the pain, it does nothing to address the actual cause of the headaches. There is a better alternative.

Each year in the United States millions of dollars are spent to help individuals with this problem, with mixed results. Chiropractic care may be the answer.
The most common of all the risk factors associated with work injury is repetitive stress. Small tasks that are done with consistently poor posture will create big problems over the months or even year. Some of the most common repetitive strain injuries include twisting and turning while moving boxes other heavy items, or even continuous typing in a poor position. You would think it's the big package that falls on you, but it's the small ones handled more often each day that create the majority of injuries.
